For battles with front and back hero rows. Do not apply the same figures directly to march combat.
Do locked skills count yet?
No. The pet screen shows all four skill descriptions, but only the first skill works at the start. Skill 2 unlocks at training stage 2, Skill 3 at stage 4 and Skill 4 at stage 5.
Chompy's +30 Crit Rate for deployed heroes is Skill 3, so it does nothing before training stage 4. That 30 isn't a 30% crit chance either. Hopper's cut to normal attack damage below 50% HP is also Skill 3. When you compare two pets, count only the skills their current stage has opened.
| Stage | Marks | Unlocks | Skill 1 cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | — | Skill 1 | Lv 1 |
| 1 | 100 | — | Lv 2 |
| 2 | 200 | Skill 2 | Lv 3 |
| 3 | 400 | — | Lv 4 |
| 4 | 600 | Skill 3 | Lv 5 |
| 5 | 700 | Skill 4 | Lv 6 |
Do Dodo's and Hopper's first buffs reach the hero you want?
You can't choose. At the start of battle Dodo raises the Attack of 2 random heroes by 10% for 10 seconds. Hopper also gives 2 random allies 8% Attack and 8% Dodge Rate for 10 seconds. There's no way to decide in advance which of your five gets it.
If one main attacker has to get the buff, compare a pet with fixed targets. Starhorn raises Defense for your front-row heroes and Attack for your back-row heroes at the start of battle.
Who does Buckler protect?
The single nearest ally hero. At the start of battle it raises that hero's Defense by 25% and cuts the normal attack damage they take by 10%, for 10 seconds.
Who counts as nearest depends on your formation. If one front-row hero keeps falling first, watch a battle to see whether that hero actually gets Buckler's protection. Ironhead's charge also goes for the nearest enemy, so check positions for any pet that picks targets by distance.
